At Loughcrew in Co. Meath, at the spring and autumn equinoxes, the rising sun shines down the passage of Cairn T and lights the carved stone at the back of its chamber. That its builders meant it so is likely, but it is an inference.

The word

Cónocht is the Irish word for an equinox.
