According to Geoffrey Keating (about 1634), druids gathered here on Samhain eve, every fire in Ireland was put out, and all had to be kindled again from the fire of Tlachtga. Keating is a late source, but the earthworks are real: excavation has dated the main enclosure to the Late Bronze Age.
