A year after Cormac was given the silver branch, the stranger came back and took her as the first of his three boons, and the women of Tara raised three great cries after her. Cormac found her again in the Land of Promise, where Manannán swore under the cup that she had not seen a man’s face since she left Tara. Stokes’s translation calls her Ailbe; Lady Gregory calls her Aille.
