Daughter of Cormac, king of Ulaid, and of Étaín, the daughter of Étaín and King Eochaid Feidlech. Her father had her carried out to be killed, but she smiled at the thralls who were to do it, and she was reared among the cowherds of Eterscél, king of Tara, in a house of wickerwork with no door. A man came to her through its skylight in the shape of a bird and told her she would bear him a son, Conaire, who must not kill birds; then the king’s men came and brought her to Eterscél. In the Wooing of Étaín the king who married her grandmother is Eochaid Airem.
