The high peninsula on the north side of Dublin Bay. Sailing home from Lochlann, Brian saw it rise out of the sea and held up his dying brothers so they could look at Ireland once more; they came ashore there and went on to their father’s fort. Logainm.ie records the name as Bend Etair about 1060; in 1879 Joyce called it Ben Edar, “now Howth Hill”.
