Daughter of Forgall Manach, “the Wily”, and wife of Cú Chulainn; Henderson’s translation calls her Emer of the Fair Hair. In Bricriu’s Feast she outruns the wives of Lóegaire and Conall to the door of Bricriu’s house, and in the war of words that follows she praises her husband and herself above them all. At the end of the tale she is given the first place before all the women of Ulster. How Cú Chulainn wooed her is told in another tale, The Wooing of Emer.
