With his brothers Ardán and Ainnle he was among the finest at Emain Macha. Their chant made the cattle give more milk, and the three of them, back to back, could have held off the whole of Ulster. Deirdre shamed him into taking her away, and the brothers went into exile with her in Alba. Brought home under the guarantee of Fergus, he was killed on the green of Emain by Eogan mac Durthacht, through the body of Fergus’s son, who was trying to shield him.
