The plain of the first battle of Mag Tuired, by Cong, on the neck of land between Lough Mask and Lough Corrib. In the tale it is called Mag Nia at first, and it takes its name when the Fir Bolg come across it under a roof of shields and a forest of javelins: Mag Tuired, the Plain of Props. Here Sreng struck off Nuada’s arm. The second battle was fought at another Mag Tuired, in Sligo.
